The Altai Kom is a ski that has been in development for a few years, and the concept behind it dates back to the very early days of Altai skis. It is a thoroughly engineered cross-country ski with no compromises. With the Altai Kom, you can ski down hills, and it’s also an exceptionally stable cross-country ski. There are many good skis sold as cross-country skis, but they’re often tailored to a specific skiing style. For example, there are skis designed entirely for downhill skiing, with large bindings for big boots and a patterned base, or cross-country skis with more of a Nordic DNA—they’re long, heavy, flexible, and wide—and are well-suited for soft, deep snow, but downhill runs are a real challenge with them. We wanted the Kom to be something more, so we began designing the ski with cross-country skiing as our primary focus. The ski must glide just as well as it turns, and in this regard, we’ve succeeded perfectly. These features make the Kom skis unique. The Altai Kom has a long tip, which is an advantage in deep powder. The ski is also designed so that the binding is positioned in the center of the ski for better balance, and it also rises more easily onto the snow. Altai Kom skis are available in three lengths: 150 cm, 162 cm, and 174 cm. - Ski base: Positive Grip no-wax base - Slightly curved tip with early taper - Wood core - No inserts
